World Peace Day 🕊️☮️

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE

Hey there Yogis!

International Day of Peace, also known as World Peace Day, is observed on September 21st each year. This day was established by the United Nations in 1981 as a global initiative to promote and celebrate peace among nations and people worldwide. The goal of World Peace Day is to raise awareness about the importance of peace and to encourage individuals, communities, and nations to work towards resolving conflicts and promoting harmony.

The specific date of September 21 was chosen because it coincides with the opening of the United Nations General Assembly, which is held annually in New York City. On this day, the UN encourages nations to observe a global ceasefire and to engage in activities and events that promote peace, such as educational programs, cultural events, and discussions on conflict resolution.

World Peace Day serves as a reminder of the collective commitment to peaceful coexistence, the prevention of conflicts, and the resolution of existing disputes through diplomatic means. It is an opportunity for people around the world to come together and work towards a more peaceful and just world.
I. A quote by Wayne Dyer

"Peace can become a lens through which you see the world. Be it. Live it. Radiate it out. Peace is an inside job.” ☮️

II. Savasana

Yoga is a practice that can help promote inner peace and well-being by calming the mind, reducing stress, and fostering a sense of balance and harmony. While many yoga asanas (postures) can contribute to a sense of peace and tranquility, today we are focusing in Savasana

Savasana (Corpse Pose) is a relaxation asana where you lie down on your back with your arms and legs extended, palms facing up.  It's crucial for calming the mind and body, some benefits are:

-Calms the central nervous system, aiding the digestive and immune systems. Also, calms the mind and reduces stress, headache, fatigue, and anxiety
-Helps lower blood pressure, relieve insomnia, keep you present and more joyful

-Promotes spiritual awakening and awareness of higher consciousness
III. "Awake: The Life of Yogananda" | Film

This documentary examines the life and teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, a spiritual leader who introduced yoga and meditation to the Western world.
It's a biopic about Yogananda, telling the story of his life and influence on yoga, religion, and science, combining re-enactment, interviews, and verité.
