This is the first post in our blog so we wanted to start by bowing to you.
What does Namaste means?
NAMASTE. Nama means bow, as means I, and te means you. Therefore, namaste literally means “bow me you” or “I bow to you.”
Sometimes spoken as Namaskar, Namaskaram is a respectful form of greeting in Hindu custom, found on the Indian subcontinent mainly in India and Nepal and among the Indian diaspora. It is used both for salutation and valediction.
Namaste is usually spoken with a slight bow and hands pressed together, palms touching and fingers pointing upwards, thumbs close to the chest. This gesture is called Anjali Mudra or Pranamasana. In Hinduism it means "I bow to the divine in you".
The real meeting between people is the meeting of their minds. When we greet one another with namaste, it means, ‘may our minds meet’, indicated by the folded palms placed before the chest. The bowing down of the head is a gracious form of extending friendship in love, respect, and humility.
